No Fluo is a natural style mouthwash made from a short list of ingredients you can recognise: spring water, four essential oils, a mineral powder, a concentrated mineral blend and stevia. It contains no fluoride and no alcohol, and it is made to freshen your mouth and leave it feeling clean.
What is in it
- Spring water as the base.
- Peppermint, spearmint and lemon essential oils for a fresh, clean taste.
- Tea tree essential oil for its sharp, herbal note.
- Calcium carbonate powder, a mineral powder.
- Concentrated trace minerals, a blend of minerals.
- Pure stevia, a plant based sweetener used instead of sugar.
There is no alcohol, no fluoride and no sugar in it. You can read more about each one on our ingredients page.
Natural does not mean safe to swallow
It is easy to assume that a natural product is harmless, but some natural ingredients are not. Tea tree oil is harmful if swallowed, and peppermint oil should not be used near the faces of babies and young children. Like any mouthwash, No Fluo is for rinsing and spitting out, and it should be kept out of reach of children.
Safety: do not swallow. No Fluo contains tea tree oil, which is harmful if swallowed. Rinse and spit it out, and keep the bottle out of reach of children.
Do natural mouthwashes work?
It depends what you want them to do. For freshening your breath and leaving your mouth feeling clean, a natural style mouthwash does the job. Most of the research on essential oil mouthwashes and plaque has been on one specific formula, used in Listerine, which contains different oils from No Fluo, so we do not claim the same results. We do not claim that No Fluo treats gum disease or bad breath. If you have bleeding gums or bad breath that does not go away, see your dentist.
How to use it
Use No Fluo at a different time of day from brushing your teeth, for example after lunch, so you do not rinse away the fluoride from your toothpaste. Swish it around your mouth and spit it out. Our guide on how to use mouthwash correctly has more detail.
Looking for a homemade natural mouthwash?
The simplest homemade rinse is salt water, which the NHS suggests for mouth ulcers. We do not recommend making essential oil mouthwash at home, because we could not find reliable guidance on safe amounts and some oils are dangerous if swallowed. Our salt water mouthwash guide explains how to make one.
Frequently asked questions
Is No Fluo a natural mouthwash?
It is made from spring water, four essential oils, calcium carbonate, trace minerals and stevia, with no alcohol, fluoride or sugar. We describe it as natural style rather than making a percentage claim.
Does natural mouthwash kill bacteria?
We do not make that claim for No Fluo. It is designed to freshen your mouth and leave it feeling clean. The NHS suggests an antibacterial mouthwash or toothpaste as one option for bad breath.
Is natural mouthwash safe for children?
Keep No Fluo out of reach of children. It contains tea tree oil, which is harmful if swallowed, and young children are more likely to swallow mouthwash.
