Fluoride free toothpaste is harder to find in the UK than you might expect. It is rarely on supermarket shelves, and when we checked in October 2026 we could not find one sold directly by Boots, Tesco or Sainsbury’s online. It is easy to get from health shops and online retailers, though, and this guide lists where we found it.
Before you switch
It is worth knowing what UK health advice says first. The NHS recommends that adults brush with a toothpaste containing at least 1,350ppm fluoride, and that children use a strength suited to their age. A Cochrane review of the evidence found that fluoride toothpaste reduces tooth decay compared with toothpaste without fluoride, in children, teenagers and adults.
Fluoride free toothpaste can clean your teeth and freshen your breath, but it does not give you fluoride’s proven protection against decay. If you are thinking about switching, especially for a child or if you are prone to tooth decay, talk to your dentist first. Our guide is fluoride free toothpaste good looks at this in more detail.

| Ethical Superstore | Kingfisher, Georganics | Georganics fennel was out of stock when we checked |
| Ecco Verde | Georganics | Fennel with hydroxyapatite |
| Morrisons | Aloe Dent | One of the few supermarkets where we found it |

The main fluoride free toothpaste brands
Kingfisher
Kingfisher is a UK natural toothpaste brand. Its fluoride free range includes mint and fennel flavours, some with aloe vera and tea tree, and it is the brand you are most likely to find in health food shops.
Aloe Dent
Aloe Dent makes aloe vera based toothpaste and mouthwash, including fluoride free and probiotic versions. It is sold at Holland and Barrett and Morrisons.
Georganics
Georganics makes toothpastes, tooth powders and tablets. Its fluoride free toothpastes use hydroxyapatite, a mineral some people choose as an alternative to fluoride.
What about hydroxyapatite?
Hydroxyapatite is the most researched fluoride free alternative. An 18 month trial in adults in Poland found a 10% hydroxyapatite toothpaste performed about as well as a standard fluoride toothpaste at preventing new decay. The evidence is promising but limited: that trial was in a low risk group and was funded by a hydroxyapatite toothpaste maker, and UK health bodies do not recommend hydroxyapatite as a replacement for fluoride.
A fluoride free mouthwash to go with it
If you have chosen a fluoride free toothpaste, a fluoride free mouthwash keeps your routine consistent. No Fluo is fluoride free and alcohol free, and it is made with peppermint, tea tree, spearmint and lemon oils.
Safety: do not swallow. No Fluo contains tea tree oil, which is harmful if swallowed. Rinse and spit it out, and keep the bottle out of reach of children.
