There are plenty of alcohol free mouthwashes on UK shelves, and they differ more than the labels suggest. Some contain fluoride and some do not, some are built around an antibacterial ingredient, and one popular brand sells versions with and without alcohol under very similar names. This guide compares the main options so you can pick the one that suits you.
How we made this list. We make No Fluo, which is included below. We have not lab tested any of these products. The comparison is based on what each maker and UK retailer states on its product page, which we checked on 31 October 2026. Formulas and availability change, so check the label before you buy.

Which one suits you?
If you want fluoride in your mouthwash
Listerine TotalCare Zero Alcohol had the highest fluoride level of the products we looked at, at 450ppm. Listerine Cool Mint Zero, Colgate Plax Alcohol Free and Corsodyl Daily Gum Care all contain fluoride at around 220 to 250ppm. UK guidance treats fluoride mouthwash as an extra on top of brushing with fluoride toothpaste, used at a different time of day from brushing.
If you want a lower cost own brand
Boots Sensitive was the cheapest we saw, at £1.30 on 31 October 2026. It is alcohol free and contains fluoride and CPC, although Boots does not state the fluoride strength.
If you are focused on gum care
Corsodyl Daily Gum Care and Oral-B Pro-Expert are both sold for gum care. Corsodyl Daily uses a low strength of chlorhexidine and carries a warning about temporary staining. Oral-B uses CPC and also warns of possible surface staining. If you have bleeding gums, it is worth seeing your dentist rather than relying on a mouthwash.
If you are focused on bad breath
The Breath Co is built around bad breath and is alcohol free and fluoride free. The NHS suggests an antibacterial mouthwash or toothpaste as one of the things to try for bad breath, alongside brushing, cleaning your tongue and cleaning between your teeth.
If you want a fluoride free mouthwash
Aloe Dent, Dr Organic Tea Tree and No Fluo are all fluoride free, and The Breath Co and Oral-B Pro-Expert list no fluoride in their ingredients. Aloe Dent, Dr Organic and No Fluo all contain tea tree oil, so none of them should be swallowed. No Fluo is the one on this list made with four essential oils, peppermint, tea tree, spearmint and lemon, and sweetened with stevia.
Safety: do not swallow. No Fluo contains tea tree oil, which is harmful if swallowed. Rinse and spit it out, and keep the bottle out of reach of children.
A warning about Corsodyl
Corsodyl sells several mouthwashes with similar names. The standard Corsodyl Mint mouthwash contains alcohol, so check the label if alcohol free matters to you. The stronger Corsodyl 0.2% Alcohol Free is a licensed medicine for short courses, such as about a month for gum disease, rather than an everyday mouthwash, and it can stain teeth. Follow the leaflet or ask a pharmacist before using it.
